UNC 남자 농구는 63세의 캐머런 실내에서 듀크에게 졌다...카테고리 없음 2023. 2. 5. 13:19
The Duke Blue Devils have been a thorn in the side of the North Carolina Tar Heels for decades. On January 18th, 2020, Duke defeated UNC in an epic matchup at Cameron Indoor Stadium 63-62. This was a heartbreaking loss for the Tar Heels, and here are three reasons why.
1. Duke's Defense
The Blue Devils' defensive effort was key to their victory. With suffocating pressure, Duke forced UNC into several unforced errors and held the Tar Heels to just 62 points on the night. Duke was led by freshman center Vernon Carey Jr., who had 8 blocks on the night and was a force in the paint all night. The Blue Devils were also able to hold star UNC forward Garrison Brooks to just 6 points on the night.
2. Poor Shooting from the Tar Heels
The Tar Heels were simply unable to find their shooting touch on the night. They shot just 38% from the field and 27% from beyond the arc. Poor shooting plagued the Tar Heels all night, and the Blue Devils took full advantage. Even star guard Cole Anthony, who led the Tar Heels with 24 points, had an off-night, shooting just 8-20 from the floor.
3. Poor Free Throw Shooting
The Tar Heels were also plagued by poor free throw shooting on the night. They shot just 8-15 from the line, which was a key factor in their defeat. UNC was able to cut the Duke lead to just one point with 15 seconds remaining, but a missed free throw by freshman guard Leaky Black sealed the Tar Heels' fate.
The loss to Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium was a heartbreaking one for the Tar Heels and their fans. Duke's defense and UNC's poor shooting and free throw shooting were the primary factors in the Blue Devils' victory. Hopefully, the Tar Heels can learn from this loss and use it as motivation for the rest of the season.
